A Hot Start to a "Severe" Winter.

05/02/2026 15:02
A Hot Start to a "Severe" Winter. Temperatures of -20°C (-4°F) have never been unusual for January weather in Belarus. This year, a mild winter hasn't arrived. In the current weather conditions, emergency responders in the Stolin region are keeping a close eye on the situation. As temperatures drop, the number of fires in residential buildings increases. The main factors are the unsafe use of stoves, increased load on electrical appliances, and, of course, smoking. To prevent emergencies, emergency responders from the Stolin District Department of Emergency Situations are actively conducting preventative work in residential buildings. The focus of the rescuers is on the condition of stove heating systems and the presence and functionality of autonomous fire alarms. Call 101!
