Attention, owners of private homes and cottages!

22/05/2026 10:05
Grass clippings, leaves, and branches cannot be simply thrown away or burned. Here's a quick rundown of the rules. What is allowed: • composting (free fertilizer!) • using as mulch or bedding • packing in biodegradable bags and throwing in a container with a capacity of up to 400 liters • concluding a separate contract for removal with a local operator (usually for a fee) What is strictly prohibited: • burning grass and leaves on the site or in a barrel • throwing green waste into a forest, ravine, or vacant lot • mixing with household waste in regular bins Fines (Article 16.40 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus): from 10 to 30 basic units = from 450 to 1,350 rubles for illegal burning repeatedly within a year - up to 2,250 rubles An important nuance: tree trunk cuttings are not considered plant waste - there are different rules for them.
