March 22 – Khatyn Tragedy Remembrance Day. Let us remember all those who fell victim to this genuine inhumanity and crimes against the Belarusian people. At least 290 settlements in our country shared the fate of Khatyn. The criminal case opened by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Belarus confirms the destruction of at least 12,868 villages and hamlets. Among the additional 3,668 settlements identified and previously unknown, 104 new settlements suffered the tragic fate of Khatyn, completely burned down along with their inhabitants and never revived after the war. With each passing year, the number of living witnesses to the war years dwindles. Currently, 650 veterans of the Great Patriotic War and 5,100 former prisoners of fascism live in the republic. In accordance with the decision of the Head of State, veterans of the Great Patriotic War and those affected by the consequences of the war receive financial assistance every year on Victory Day. This year, these categories will receive assistance ranging from 1,500 to 5,000 rubles. In addition, our veterans receive special monthly pension payments: an increase, an age supplement, and a care allowance. Currently, for disabled veterans and war veterans, this is an additional 497 to 745 rubles to their basic pension, while for former prisoners of Nazism, it's an additional 311 rubles monthl
