Belarusians have been invited to discuss a draft law that expands the rights and opportunities of farmers. This can be done at the Belarusian Legal Forum until May 18. Key innovations: Work without large fields. Now, peasant farmer status can be obtained by engaging in beekeeping, fish farming, or growing mushrooms or vegetables in greenhouses—having farmland is no longer required. State support on par with giants. Farmers will be eligible for all direct and indirect state support measures currently available to large agricultural organizations. Participation in government procurement. Peasant farms will be able to create stabilization funds for state needs and participate in public-private partnership projects. Cooperation. Farmers will be allowed to join holdings and associations. Sponsorship. Surplus unsold produce can be donated to individuals and legal entities. ️ Important condition for status: To avoid liquidation, a peasant farm must receive at least 50% of its revenue from agriculture (for two consecutive years). This rule does not apply to newcomers in their first year of operation.
