The harvesting of birch sap in the Republic of Belarus is regulated by Article 84 of the Forest Code of the Republic of Belarus and the Rules for the Harvesting of Birch Sap, approved by the Resolution of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Belarus dated 19.12.2016 No. 71 "On Approval of the Rules for the Harvesting of Stumps and Roots, Harvesting of Tree Saps, Creation of Fruit, Berry, Nut and Other Forest Plantations, for the Cultivation of Medicinal and Other Plants on Them, Their Harvesting, Collection and Revocation of Certain Resolutions of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Belarus." In accordance with this resolution, birch sap harvesting is carried out in forest fund areas no earlier than five years before the onset of the age of forest felling, as well as in forest fund areas allocated for final felling. For questions about purchasing birch sap for personal use, citizens can contact: Duboy Forestry (Duboi village, Sovetskaya Street 102, tel. 68546) Stolin Forestry (Stolin town, Klenovaya Street 14, tel. 62035) Terebezhovskoye Forestry (Terebezh village, Kolkhoznaya Street 4, tel. 47245) Birch sap collection by citizens is carried out under the supervision of forestry officers to avoid violating tapping technology. The cost of 1 liter is 35 kopecks. Sap sales points to the population are open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Violators of the procedure for harvesting tree sap face administrative liability. According to Article 16.16, Part 1 of the new Code of the Republic of Belarus on Administrative Offenses (which entered into force on March 1, 2021), failure to comply with established deadlines, the use of prohibited means and methods for collecting tree sap, or other violations of collection rules will result in a warning or a fine of up to 15 basic units, for an individual entrepreneur - up to 50 basic units, and for a legal entity - up to 150 basic units. In addition, damages caused to the environment will be collected in the amount of 0.1 basic unit for each liter of illegally harvested sap.
