What government benefits are available to families

07/04/2026 12:04
Free travel. Belarusian schoolchildren can ride public transport free of charge from September 1st to June 30th. A one-time benefit for the new school year is 30% of the minimum subsistence level for each school-age child in a large family. Large families receive a discount on the cost of school textbooks and manuals. Free medications for children under three years of age, and free and subsidized medications for children with disabilities up to 18 years of age. Child care in a preschool. Parents pay only for meals while their child attends preschool, with the state subsidizing everything else. Parental fees constitute only 13-15% of the total cost of child care. For families with two children in preschool, the fee is even lower, and for large families, it is reduced by 50%. If a child with a disability attends preschool, parents are completely exempt from fees. Free school meals for elementary school students. Older children from low-income, large, and other families also receive free school meals. Vouchers to children's health camps, which are subsidized by the state, are also available.
