"According to Art. 81 of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, Art. 56 of the Electoral Code, the elections of the President of the Republic of Belarus are called by the House of Representatives no later than five months and are held on Sunday no later than two months before the expiration of the term of office of the previous President. In accordance with Art. 83 of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, the President takes office after taking the oath. From the moment the newly elected President takes the oath, the powers of the previous President cease. The inauguration of the current Head of State took place on September 23, 2020. Accordingly, the next presidential elections must be held no later than July 20, 2025," said CEC Chairman Igor Karpenko.
