On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the country from the German-fascist invaders, Belarus celebrated the main state holiday - Independence Day. All these years, we continue to honor and preserve the memory of the feat of our ancestors. This is a great unifying force for all Belarusians and teaches us to value life, peace and freedom. Events dedicated to Independence Day and the 80th anniversary of liberation from the Nazi invaders were held across the country.

In Stolin, the festive events began with a traditional procession, in which more than three thousand people - residents and guests of the city - took part. It was held on a truly grand scale – representatives of all village councils of the district, students of schools and sports departments, representatives of enterprises, organizations and institutions of the city walked along the central Sovietka Street. A theatrical rally "A feat in the name of liberation" was also held on the street, with the passage of vehicles - thematically decorated cars that demonstrated episodes of the Great Patriotic War on the territory of Belarus. At the end of the procession, representatives of the government and the public laid flowers at the mass grave of those who died during the Great Patriotic War.

The chairman of the Stolina District Executive Committee, Ryhor Pratosavitsky, addressed the participants of the event with a festive speech.
- The history of Belarusian statehood has always been difficult. Belarusians went through wars, selfless feats and great work to their independence. And today we treat the historical memory of each era very sparingly, - noted the head of the district. - 80 years of peaceful life on the land of Belarus. But its inhabitants always remember and honor the names of those who had the opportunity to live and create today. Our main task is to preserve this sacred memory and not allow history to be rewritten. We will talk and remember it always!
Hryhor Vasilievich noticed that eras change, the pace of life accelerates, but the vital value of any state remains unchanged - the patriotism of its citizens, which begins with love for one's homeland, with pride for one's family, the city and the people who live nearby.
During the years of independence, Belarus has been steadily developing in industry and agriculture, social and scientific spheres, foreign policy and defense. Every year, the level and quality of life of the population increases. We have a great value – peace and harmony in our home. And we got them very expensively. Therefore, Republic Day is a holiday for those who understand our common values: pride for the country, the desire to work for its prosperity and love for the native land.
It has already become a good tradition to celebrate another holiday on Independence Day - Stolina City Day.
The chairman of the district executive committee, Ryhor Pratasavitsky, addressed the citizens and guests from the festive stage:
- The city has its own face, its own color and features. Stolin grows and develops - it is clean and cozy, pleases with flowers and beautiful compositions-talismans, which every organization has. But the most important thing is its wealth and honor – you, its inhabitants. You have always been distinguished by great professionalism, hard work and responsibility. You built this city with your own hands, breathed into it the spirit of enthusiasm and optimism.
The head of the district expressed his gratitude to all concerned residents, workers, private entrepreneurs and public organizations.
- We have done a lot, but we have even more plans. Because for the hardworking citizens of Stalingrad, work is a way of life, and difficulties are an incentive to move forward. And our motto clearly defines our position - "Devotion to the Motherland is an honor for a Poleshik", - emphasized Ryhor Vasilievich.
During the celebrations, the anthem of the Stolin district was played from the festive stage, if you can say so. The debut of the song "Stolin Region" took place. Words by the young poet Ivan Liashkevich, music by Fyodor Vaytsyakhouski. Natalya Pratasavitskaya and Iryna Shulzhik, soloists of the Honored Instrumental Ensemble "Bryz", performed a song.
