Congratulations to Lukashenko on the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia
Dear friends!
I cordially congratulate you on the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia. For a quarter of a century now, this holiday has embodied the will of fraternal peoples to build a common union home together for the benefit of future generations. In a short period by historical standards, we have achieved a lot and can rightfully be proud of our successes.
Despite difficult external conditions, we managed to prevent a decline in production and maintain employment and the dynamics of economic development. Competitive innovative products are produced, high-tech projects are being implemented in nuclear energy, automobile and machine tool manufacturing, and transport. The share of domestic components and developments is growing. Step by step we are developing new markets, we have set a course to reduce costs and improve the quality of allied goods and services.
Belarus and Russia are confidently moving towards scientific and technological sovereignty and are finding the necessary reserves for further development.
There are visible results not only in traditional industries. Real successes, real breakthroughs have been achieved in such complex, science-intensive areas as materials science, aircraft engineering, microelectronics and space research. For the first time in the history of independent Belarus, a Belarusian cosmonaut is working on the ISS.
But the most important thing is that the Union has a pronounced social orientation. Citizens of the two countries enjoy equal rights and guarantees and can actually experience the benefits of living, working, studying and traveling within the Union State without restrictions. And this is not a complete list of achievements that allow millions of Belarusians and Russians to look to the future with confidence.
The unity of our fraternal peoples was formed by common culture, worldview values and history, which we sacredly preserve and protect.
In July of this year, we will together solemnly celebrate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, and in May 2025, the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War - two most important dates in the life of the Belarusian and Russian peoples as a memory of the feat of the heroic ancestors who gave peace and freedom for the peoples of Europe, and an example of unity, resilience and cohesion for us all.
On this solemn day, I congratulate you, dear friends, on our common holiday and with all my heart I wish you good health, peace, happiness and prosperity.
Chairman of the Supreme State Council of the Union State,
President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
