Alexander Lukashenko signed the Decree "On Improving the Admissions Campaign." This document aims to ensure equal opportunities for applicants to higher and secondary vocational education institutions through a fair competitive selection process. The Decree established a state commission to oversee the preparation and implementation of the admissions campaign and approved its permanent composition. The commission is empowered to oversee university Olympiads, which provide preferential admission to universities that host such Olympiads. The commission, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Natalia Petkevich, includes representatives of the Council of the Republic and the House of Representatives, as well as government agencies, regulatory bodies, and public organizations. The Decree also updates certain provisions of the admissions rules for higher and secondary vocational education. Specifically, admission to a university for distance learning no longer requires work experience consistent with the chosen educational profile. Furthermore, the categories of individuals entitled to preferential admission to educational institutions are being clarified in connection with the establishment of the College of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. A specialized test for the subject "History of Belarus in the Context of World History" is being introduced, as this subject is studied in grades 10 and 11 instead of "History of Belarus."
