Marathon of Unity travels to Brest

MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) – The Marathon of Unity campaign has kicked off in Brest, BelTA reports citing the organizers.

Brest will be hosting the national social and cultural event Marathon of Unity on 20 and 21 December. This is already the tenth city on the marathon’s route. The marathon debuted in Molodechno, then traveled to Gomel, Zhlobin, Mogilev, Bobruisk, Orsha, Vitebsk, Pinsk and Baranovichi.
The participants of the Marathon of Unity campaign will learn more about the country’s southern city and enjoy the New Year vibe. It is symbolic that the marathon will start with the event Don't Wake Up the Sleeping Soldiers in the Brest Hero Fortress memorial complex. 


Excursions will be organized for bloggers and creative teams from Gomel Oblast and Minsk Oblast. They will be able to learn more about the history of the unconquered citadel on the Bug River, and tour industrial giants such as Savushkin Produkt and Gefest-Tekhnika.

The project We Do One Thing! is meant to highlight the benefits of partnerships between various enterprises. Two such meetings are planned in Brest. Employees of Brestmash and Brest Hosiery Factory will be able to meet each other’s teams. A concert will be held for the workers.

The project We Work Together, We Sing Together! will be held right in the workshops of Brestgazoapparat, Anrex and Gefest-Tekhnika. Solo performers and bands will ‘light things up’ and talk with workers in an informal setting.

A lot of exciting and educational things have been prepared for schoolchildren and students. Instead of usual classes, the Brest State College of Light Industry and the Brest State College of the Service Sector will hold a Not-Boring Not-Lecture. Students will be able to have a conversation with famous speakers in a relaxed atmosphere. The most active participants of the meeting will be able to receive gifts, including tickets to the Time Chose Us concert.


Brest State Technical University will host the Together Into the Future!  interactive platform of the National Children's Technopark to introduce visitors to the areas of study, main achievements and plans of the technopark.

During the Marathon of Unity campaign, an award ceremony will be held for the winners of the regional stage of the We Are Together drawing competition for primary school students. The winners of the regional stage of the national essay competition on the topic “What is Unity” will also be awarded.

The Presidential Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus will give a master class at Brest Gymnasium No. 4. Artists of the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus will share their trade secrets with students of Shirma Brest State Music College.

In addition, a conversation “My Life. My Path. My President” will take place at Brest State Technical University. University students and members of the public will meet with Chairman of the Standing Commission on Legislation and State Building of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Rusy.

Various exhibitions will be held throughout Brest during the Marathon of Unity campaign. Thus, BelTA will present three expositions. The exposition Belarus. The Rise chronicling the early stages of the country’s independence, will be located in the Korona Mall on 16  Masherov Avenue. The photo exhibition Parallel Worlds will be running at Pushkin Brest State University. This project juxtaposes the two worlds going in parallel along different paths over the past 30 years of independence. One of them is the path of peace, creation and achievements. The second – “parallel world” chose the path of hatred and degradation. The exhibition Sovereign Belarus was arranged in the hall of the Brest Ice Palace. It celebrates the achievements of our country in the political, social, economic spheres.

Visitors to the Equator Mall will be able to see an exposition of unique rare posters With the Quality Mark from the collection of the National Library of Belarus. The exposition is dedicated to the Year of Quality. The posters on display reflect the perception of the topic and the issue of quality by Soviet poster artists of the 1950s-1980s.

Local residents and visitors to the city will have a rare opportunity to see the exhibition Books Gifted to the President. It will be held in the Brest Regional Library. The exhibition features a collection of books donated to the president of Belarus by heads of state, politicians and cultural figures of different countries.

Pushkin Brest State University is hosting the exhibition Unity of Nations - the Key to the Great Victory brought to the city by the Great Patriotic War Museum. The exposition consisting of 17 tablets is designed to highlight the contribution of all ethnicities living in the USSR to winning the Great Patriotic War.

Brest residents and visitors to the city are invited to the Brest Regional Puppet Theater to see the exhibition The Bolshoi Theater of Belarus: History, Ideas. Accomplishments. The exposition features the most eye-catching costumes, photographs, playbills and other exhibits.

The first day of the Marathon of Unity campaign in Brest will end with a New Year extravaganza. The What I Wish For the New Year event featuring popular bloggers will kick off on Lenin Square at 17:00. A spectacular show will begin at 18:00 that will culminate in lighting the main New Year tree of the regional center.

The marathon will continue on Saturday, 21 December. The center stage of the second day of the marathon will be the area near the ice palace that will be lined up with food trucks and other food and non-food vendors from almost all regions of Belarus. Brest Oblast will showcase its achievements in the exposition First in the First. There will also be a traveling exposition of the Great Patriotic War Museum and an exhibition of military equipment by the Defense Ministry. Performances of military personnel are scheduled for 14:30.

A Significant Meeting will be held at the Brest-Tsentralny Railway Station. Such an event is held in each city where the Marathon of Unity campaign stopped. Speaking at the meeting in Brest will be Olympic champion Yulia Nesterenko, People's Artist of Belarus Vladimir Gromov, Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Presidential Orchestra of  Belarus Vitaly Kulbakov, Director General of the National Library of Belarus Vadim Gigin, Editor-in-Chief of Alfa-Radio Vadim Shepet.

After that the Presidential Orchestra will give a concert in the building of the Brest Railway Station. This has never happened in the regional center before.

The Marathon of Unity campaign in Brest will wrap up with the gala concert Time Chose Us. Amateur and professional performers from Minsk, Brest Oblast, Gomel Oblast and Minsk Oblast will perform on stage.
