In the first quarter, after inspections, tax authorities presented more than Br27.1 million in income tax for payment, the Ministry of Taxes and Duties reported.
"In the first quarter of 2024, the tax authorities continued comprehensive work to identify income hidden from taxation and used to pay wages in envelopes. At the stage of preventive measures, more than 15 thousand messages and notifications were sent to business entities, in which business entities were invited to voluntarily eliminate violations or provide appropriate explanations. The amount of income tax to be paid additionally to the budget amounted to Br22.7 million,” the Ministry of Taxes noted.
Based on the results of audits carried out by tax authorities, 222 cases of non-payment of income tax were established and Br27.1 million were presented for payment.
“Concealing cash proceeds from taxation remains one of the main ways of creating a source for paying wages in envelopes. Thus, during the monitoring of operational activities of the tax authorities, the amount of hidden cash proceeds was established in the amount of Br44 million. Work in this direction will be continued,” - emphasized in the press service.
