During an unscheduled inspection of Brest retail chains, the Brest Regional Inspectorate of the State Standard initiated laboratory testing of children's and adult products for compliance with the technical regulations of the Customs Union. The results identified 13 hazardous products posing a health risk to consumers. Chinese-made children's shoes were found to contain unacceptable artificial and synthetic leather in the lining, while toys contained excessive levels of formaldehyde, which is harmful to mucous membranes and skin. Outerwear failed the breathability test, an indicator characterizing the risk of overheating and condensation under clothing. The State Standard has banned the import and circulation of these products in the Republic of Belarus.
